There is no doubt that you heard meditation is good for you; it can help you feel calmer and has a host of physical and mental well-being benefits. It lowers high blood pressure, reduces anxiety attacks, increases your energy level, and improves your mood and behavior. Meditation can also sharpen your mind, develop your intuition, and increase your happiness, creativity, and self-esteem. All it takes is a few minutes of meditation each day, and you will quickly feel its benefits.
If you are a beginner, the best way to start meditating is to start small; for example, take 3-5 minutes paying attention to the sensations of taking breaths. When I first began meditating, breathing and focusing on strictly the breath helped me to relax and gain appeal.
There are different techniques to try; it is important to choose the one that works best for you. Let’s have a look at some popular techniques:
Breathing Meditation – The first stage of meditation is to stop distractions and make our mind clearer and more lucid. This can be accomplished by simply focusing on your breath. Choose a quiet place to meditate and sit in a comfortable position. You can sit in the traditional cross-legged posture or in any other position that is comfortable. If you wish, you can sit in a chair. The most important thing is to keep our back straight to prevent our mind from becoming sluggish or sleepy.
Guided Meditation – this technique requires you to simply listen to a guide and relax. If you are new to meditation, you may want to consider trying with this technique because you have someone guiding you through the process. There are many free guided meditations that can be found online, and there are also free apps to download on your phone, such as Headspace, Aura, Stop, Breathe & Think. All available for iOS and Andriod.
Candle Gazing – this technique requires you to gaze at a candle flame. If you have trouble clearing your mind and relaxing, then this technique may be the right one for you. You just need to concentrate on the candle flame, which will distract you from your racing thoughts and give you a chance to relax.
Visualization – this technique is very powerful. It requires you to visualize a detailed image in your mind of something you wish to achieve. This will make you feel more positive and confident about your goal.
Try these techniques to find the one that’s right for you and add it into your daily routine. Meditation is a fantastic way to improve your concentration and lead you into a profoundly deeper spiritual relationship with yourself. Take time and begin a new today.
